Opening Night

Spring 2016 Opening Night

1 Nov 2016 by Steve Montgomery

Tonight is the start of the Spring 2016 Business Class Table Tennis Competition. We have 14 teams entered, six in Division 1 and Eight in Division 2. In Division 1 we have a couple of new teams joining, WITC (Wellington Income Tax Consultants) and Tenzing. WITC come into the competition as the top seed with Ian Talbot playing in the premier grade in Wellington and Malcolm Wong a New Zealand umpire for Table Tennis New Zealand. They will be a hard duo to beat so keep a close eye on their matches. Tenzing is another new team with a strong backing to their game, will be interesting to see how they play in this comp. We have the return of I Love Paris team with their big hitter and cool girl Samara Collins, will she bring out the pips....we'll see.

In Division 2 we have a full table of Eight teams. We have original teams Supreme and Storypark back in the fold. Supreme comes back to the competition after a hiatus; they look like to be same top seed with CoreLogic Ren. Will be interesting tonight to see them play each other.Overall I'm looking forward to the tournament; there are going to be close and not so close games.

The main thing is to have fun and pick up some new skills along the way. Check back here weekly to see the latest draw, results and news from the competition.
